Simple Changes #28
Build up a picture of how easy your workplace makes it for those that want to walk, cycle or use public transport, and identify areas for improvement
Active travel – walking, cycling, or getting public transport for part of the journey – is a far healthier and more sustainable way of getting to and from work. However, for many, there are barriers preventing them from making this a reality.
By getting a clear understanding of people’s travel choices, finding out how your staff get to work, you can identify the barriers that currently prevent them from walking, cycling, using public transport or car-sharing. You can evaluate whether there is anything your organisation can do to make that easier; providing a safe bike space for employees to store their bikes, remunerating active travel whilst on business, investing in pool bikes or a cycle to work scheme are great ways of showing the value your organisation places on healthy, sustainable choices.
