Simple Changes #62

Check whether your contracts meet the needs of the Modern Slavery Act

1

Problem

According to the 2016 Global Slavery Index produced by the Walk Free Foundation, Modern Slavery affects 45.8m people worldwide. Modern slavery involves one person denying another person his or her freedom, and can take several forms, including human trafficking, child labour or being forced to work against their will. In Wales, all public bodies along with organisations that receive funding from Welsh Government are expected to sign up to the Code of practice: ethical employment in supply chains.

Simple Changes

By signing up to the code and using the toolkits, we can work towards ensuring that we prevent Modern Slavery and human rights abuses; blacklisting; false self-employment; unfair use of umbrella schemes and zero hours contracts; and ensure the payment of the Living Wage.
