Simple Changes #29
Consider how you can ensure children have access to daily outdoor play
Problem
In 1925, David Lloyd George said that ‘the right to play is a child’s first claim on the community. No community can infringe that right without doing deep and enduring harm to the minds and bodies of its citizens.’ Play, particularly outdoor play, is key to ensuring children benefit from a healthy and happy childhood.
Simple Change
Play Wales have developed a Community Toolkit, Developing and Managing Play Spaces, for anyone responsible for managing or developing a play space in a community, which can provide a useful starting point for you when considering how you can ensure you are offering spaces for children to play.
