Simple Changes #57
Consider the opportunities to support and develop local clubs involved in sport
Problem
Only 29% of adults aged 34-65 in Wales undertake some form of sporting activity on three or more occasions a week. 53% don’t undertake any frequent activity. However, sports clubs provide a sense of acceptance, empowerment and belonging, and play a huge part in defining a community.
Simple Change
Being a part of a sport club is good for our health but also supports wider social, economic and cultural well-being. Participation in sport varies by gender, age, ethnicity disability, geography and relative level of deprivation. It is important that you are minimising these variations as far as possible, ensuring varied community clubs that meet people’s needs.
