Simple Changes #27
Encourage walking and standing meetings, where appropriate
According to the British Psychological Society, the average office worker spends 5.41 hours per day at their desk, and research shows that our sedentary lifestyles are increasing the likelihood of obesity, heart disease and poor mental health. There are clear benefits of taking regular walks, such as making us more creative, health benefits, improvement in energy levels, as well as improved communication, focus and relationships between management and workers.
By encouraging walking and standing meetings, where appropriate, you are showing that you value this way of working and the benefits it can have for your employee’s well-being.
