A paid ten-week work placement to unlock potential and progress the careers of those who represent Wales


Cowshed has joined forces with Wales’ Future Generations Commissioner’s Office to offer more paid opportunities for people experiencing barriers to starting a career in communications because of race, religion, age, sex or social background.

In the last three years, the eight people who have been through Cowshed’s award-winning Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic internship have gone on to find roles in Welsh industry. This year, Cowshed want to expand the scheme and offer opportunities to more people from across Wales.

The Your-turn-ship is a paid ten-week work placement to unlock potential and progress the careers of those who represent Wales in 2022.

We want to hear from you if you experience one or more of the following barriers to finding a job in communications:

  • Your ethnicity
  • Your religion or belief
  • Your disability including long-term illness and neurodiversity
  • Your sexual orientation or gender identity
  • You or your family’s social background e.g., you are a young carer, a care leaver, or receive universal credit
  • You are a refugee
  • You are returning to work after a substantial absence (3 years or more) e.g., maternity leave, adoption leave
  • Your age e.g., you are a mature applicant 45+ looking for a career change


There are three paid work placements available. Two with Cowshed and one with the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales.

The work placement will start on Monday 9th January 2022 and end on Friday 10th March. You will need to be able to commit to the role full-time (Monday to Friday).

You will gain experience in creative (design, content creation, copywriting), campaigns (media relations, social media, event planning) and digital (social advertising, content creation) depending on what area of communication interests you most.

Cowshed is a Blueprinted agency, a Disability Confident Employer and Autism Aware. The Future Generations Commissioner’s Office is I-ACT Mental Health awareness accredited, Healthy travel charter and Community Jobs compact signatories. We both pay the Real Living Wage.

Cowshed offices are open plan with rooms for quiet working. It has a stair lift and lift for ease of access, and a separate disabled toilet which can also be used as a gender-neutral toilet. The Future Generations Office is based at Tramshed, a ten minute walk from Cardiff Central train station and fully accessible over one ground floor.
