The Cardiff based social enterprise coffee shop that provides employment opportunities to the homeless has been chosen by the team members of the office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales first official charity of the year.

Throughout the year the Commissioner’s office will support the Big Moose by raising funds, sharing learning and skills throughout the year.

Sophie Howe, Future Generations Commissioner for Wales said:

“We are really thrilled as a team to announce that Big Moose Coffee Co is our very first nominated charity of the year.

“Early on as a team we committed to ‘walking the talk’, creating a culture that has a positive impact on us as a team as well as in Wales and the rest of the world. The Big Moose motto is ‘leaving the world a better place than they found it’ and perfectly aligns with the ambitions and aspirations of the Well-being of Future Generations Act and our work.

“We have lots of exciting plans and we can’t wait to get involved and support this brilliant social enterprise that gives homeless people in Wales a hand up. Keep a look out for the different activities will be doing on our website and in our newsletter.”

Chloe and Jeff Smith, Big Moose Coffee Co founders said:

“We feel honoured to have been chosen as the annual charity, we were w.   There is a lot of synergy between the work we do and the work the future generations team do, and I believe this will grow and develop in a dynamic partnership that is rooted in peoples current and future well-being.

“Together we can become an unstoppable team.”

Jeff and Chloe are a father and daughter duo who have one simple mission, to leave the world better than they found it and have created a team and model that helps them deliver just that. The idea for Big Moose Coffee Co was born when Jeff lost his best friend Gary Cloonan (aka Moose) and was reminded of how short and precious life can be. He vowed then to get the most out of every minute. It is a non-profit organisation with a clear intention to do fun stuff that inspires people to live better, healthier and kinder lives  with a focus on mental health, suicide prevention and homelessness.
