New podcast alert: As we enter the 10th year of the Well-being of Future Generations Act, we’ve launched a series of podcasts with Business News Wales, starting with a focus on the well-being economy.
The Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Derek Walker, is joined by leading economist, Kate Raworth who praises Bannau Brycheiniog for its use of the doughnut framework for its strategic plan, applying well-being economics to the long-term plan for one of Wales’ major national parks.
She says:
“[Bannau Brycheiniog] did a really beautiful plan and report that includes both these quite innovative metrics – looking at the future of the park through different kinds of metrics, the people, the livelihoods, but also the health of nature in the place.
“They’ve combined this kind of strong technical analysis with a real poetry … images and imagining and I think it’s so important to bring these things together.
“They’ve shown that this isn’t just about a local government and a town. It can actually be applied at the scale of a national park. It’s a great example of excellent use of this framework, right at home within Wales.”
