Simple Changes #12

Reduce the use of pesticides and fertilisers on road verges and in urban green spaces

1

Problem

Every year hundreds of tonnes of toxic pesticides are used in our streets, parks, schools and open spaces of towns and cities. They have been linked to declines in bees and pollinators, birds, mammals, aquatic animals and non-target plants.

2

Simple Change

By reducing the use of pesticides and fertilisers and developing new Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies, you will be reducing environmental damage from contaminated soil, air and water, reducing biodiversity loss in non-target species, as well as improving drinking water quality.
